Dubstep Inna Portland
Welcome to pdxindub. A place for all things dubwise in Portland, Oregon.
Our main focus is Various - a monthly night of bass heavy music hosted by Monkeytek and Ryan Organ and featuring rotating guests. Various is held at Branx in S.E. Portland and features the mighty H.A.S. soundsystem which always hits those low end frequencies with clarity.
Established in 2006, Various is Portland's longest running Dubstep dance, but as the name suggests,
one is likely to hear jungle, dub, dancehall and more.
Here's a little rundown of the platyers as of December 2009:

MONKEYTEK
Monkeytek works deep in the mines at Lo Dubs Records seeking out quality tunes to release on 12" wax.
Inspired by the sounds of early Jungle and Ninja Tunes, he began djing in 1996 and has been at it ever since.
Monkeytek curates Portland's foundational Dubstep soundsystem dance (est. 2006) alongside his friend Ryan Organ.
In early 2010, Monkeytek initiated a function called Version with Lo Dubs partner and bossman Jon A.D..
Version builds on the solid foundation set by Various and intensifies the Dancehall vibes inherent in Dubstep and showcase what Dubstep is, was and can be.
In the interest of forward motion and keeping rooted in soundsystem culture of old, Monkeytek always comes through with freshly cut dubplates and exclusives.
Rejecting the current trend of Dudestep as totally vacuous garbage, Monkeytek prefers the heavy heavy monster sound, fully loaded sub-bass and dimly lit rooms to the mid-range wobbles, flashing lights and gunfingers.
In his time running Version & Various and working the label, Monkeytek has hosted and played alongside Kode9 & Spaceape, XI, Daega Sound, E3, Alter Echo, Zizek, Lloop, Scientist, DJG, Moldy, Struggle, Jagga Culture and also played alongside his friend Deejay Collage at Decibel Festival DB in Dub 2009.
When at home in Portland, Monkeytek plays Various every first Saturday, Moloko Plus every fourth Friday and Version every other month.

RYAN ORGAN
A heavy player in the Portland scene, Ryan Organ has been deejaying and promoting since the age of 16. His versatile sets combining oldschool jungle, garage, 4/4 and dubstep have taken him all over the United States. During that time he has performed alongside heavy hitters such as Shy FX, Skream, DJ Krush, Rusko, Pendulum and many more.
In late 2006 Ryan and Monkeytek established a new event called Various, a monthly party rooted in soundsystem culture that showcased all types of bass driven music. Various has become nationally known as one of the finest events of its kind, hosting local, national and international talent of highest caliber. Now into its fourth year, Various shows no signs of slowing down, always bringing the heavy bass and thick vibes it is known for.
In addition to building a stellar reputation as a dj and promoter, Ryan is also heavily involved with two of the US’s most forward thinking record labels, Offshore Recordings and LoDubs. As co-manager of Offshore Recordings, Ryan has helped to release some of the finest leftfield Drum n' Bass in recent memory. With LoDubs, he juggles the roles of design, logistics and publicity, all contributing to what has become one of North America’s finest dubstep labels. By day, Ryan can be found at Anthem Records (and Lo Dubs HQ) as the dubstep & jungle buyer.
JON A.D.
Founding member of Various crew and executive director of Lo Dubs Records, Jon A.D. spends his days running Anthem Records in downtown Portland, Oregon and handling the myriad tasks of operating a forward thinking record label. In fact, he runs three labels - Lo Dubs, Anthem Records and Losonofono, recently relaunched as a Skwee label! Jon is also a versatile dj with a broad understanding of music and how to transition a set from Dubstep, to Disco to Black Metal and back again, Jon comes with something interesting to hear and move to.

JAGGA CULTURE
Born and raised in Mobay, Jamaica, Jagga Culture is truly versatile microphone man .
Jagga hosts Portland's Version and Various dances as well as handles the mic for Small Axe functions throughout the Northwest.
He brings a dynamic element to the dance, alternately meshing subtly and hypnotically into the mix and hyping the crowd.
